Some of the most dramatic writers in history were inspired by the greatest book of all time: the bible. William Shakespeare, Pulitzer Prize winner Archibald McLeish, Tony Award winners Arthur Miller and Neil Simon, and musical storytellers Andrew Lloyd Webber and Stephen Schwartz have all been directly influenced by stories in this best-selling book. But as much as is known about these stories, everyone may not know these stories first-hand for themselves...or if they do, it may have been a while since they were read. In any case, this forum is designed to reengage with these absolutely compelling stories and to do so in the context of community.

Hears the Story is a weekly forum explicitly designed to bring Artists and story lovers together in-person to hear ancient stories and explore them through rich and meaningful dialogue. Each week live Actors will perform a different 20-minute scripted story for the audience, such as Adam & Eve or Abraham & Sarah or Moses & the Burning Bush. After the performance, everyone will have the opportunity to discuss the stories together. Writers gain insight and inspiration, Actors perform and analyze characters, and story lovers have their understanding deepened and their lives enriched.

Hears the Story forum will meet weekly on Tuesdays from January 24 to March 7 from 7:00 - 8:30pm in the Black Box Theatre of The Salvation Army - Theatre 315. Our address is 315 West 47th Street in Manhattan. Anyone may attend one or all of the sessions. Each event is free and open to the public. Complimentary coffee and snacks provided. Reserve your seat today.
